For Attila there's no GoT mod, and thank God for that. That's debatable, i'm losing interest in the show personally, but you can hardly disagree that the GOT world is a very interesting place and would make for an ideal TW mod. Most famously of these is the Middle Earth/Lord of the Rings mod for Medieval 2 Total War. There is currently a Game of Thrones mod for Crusader Kings 2, with all the houses. I have not looked but I am certain someone has modded some recent Total War game to change the realm to Westeros.

Poor arguement for that one though,the factions would have different military styles and they could always add 'minor' factions as playable ones-just like in Rome 2,which has 8 base playable factions (excluding DLC content and free content),and some nonsignificant factions added as DLC content.
And who`s to say minor factions can`t/wouldn`t rise to prominence in GoT ? House Bolton is probably the best example for it,being the most powerful faction in the North currently ( if we exclude.Stanis Baratheon`s..migration to the wall :P)
I would love a GoT total war,without a doubt. Perhaps even more than the warhammer game that CA is developing.

Starks, Karstarks, Boltons, Lannisters, Tyrells, Greyjoys, Martells, the Watch, the free folk, Tully, Renly, Frey, Stannis and Arryn are the Westerosi factions, and then there would be the free cities, the Dothraki and the two Targaryens but that's it. And how to balance dragons? And giants?
Besides, some of these factions (such as Renly) are gone before the Boltons/Karstarks would rise as factions. Besides, the Westerosi factions should all be satrapies of the Baratheon/Lannisters on the Iron Throne, and there is no way to realistically portray the Targaryens at the beginning as they would die in 10 seconds in a total war game.

Well, that's the 'if', isn't it? :rolleyes: It's quite well to talk about a brilliant game, but i'm not really sure that the desire is strong enough to make one in a Westerosi setting. Of course, we could say the same about a Warhammer Fantasy title (and may already have), and I admit that i'm totally biased in favour of such a project. But the story of Westeros is one that largely hasn't yet been finished, whilst Warhammer Fantasy has a much more established 'universe' behind it, making it a much more practical option. In my opinion

I got into warhammer fairly recently due to a multitude of nagging,and it got me pretty interested- i own a few lizardmen things ( all but one were gifts,so i didn`t bleed much of my wallet for it). It`s too expensive though.too expensive. On the GoT topic,it could be nice to see the different armies in action as well ( Dorne armies resembling the Moorish armies and Khwarezmians as an example).

They said that the last one was a dummy-run for a 'new setup' which no-one appears to have asked about any further. :rolleyes: They didn't announce any sort of schedule for the next one, but they did one for the Getae FLC, so it stands to reason that there may be another stream on the release of something new, at least.

You haven't read the books? DIE! Well, I mean: READ THEM! They are fantastic (I'd say books are always better than the films or games made from them but some people prefer watching stuff. However there's always loads of stuff they leave out because they don't have the time. But anyway, I do actually think this would be good, but then they'd also have to make a LOTR game. Just because. That is one thing that I can say I liked better about CiG, I got real enjoyment out of playing as Vercingetorix and feeling that connection to the leader of my faction. Its the only Rome 2 campaign I've managed to finish.Tacitus Quotes:

I found Rome a city of filth covered marble and left it a pile of rubble. - Me - edited July 2014I'm going to be honest here and say I've never finished a campaign in any total war game, despite me playing them all for years. I start one faction, get like 50 turns in (in the case of rome 2, often less than 25 turns) and get interested in another faction and start one with them. I'm quite a defensive player so that's why it probably gets boring. It's annoying. And I am not enjoying the games enough if I only just start them then leave them. But old habits die hard

I'm a big fan of the total war series and Game of Thrones. A few days ago i realised that GOT have all the potential to be a total war games. There are massive battles, politics and family gestion.
We could choose from one of the different family (Lannister, Stark, Baratheon, Targaryen, Tyrell, IronBorn, Dothraki, White walkers and Wildlings), and different leaders (Stannis/Renly, Viserys/Daenerys etc.)
Politics and family gestion should be improved to match the books accurately.
Also there could be aleatory decision like kill/don't kill Daenerys, send soldiers to the wall/keep them to have bigger
armies etc.

Lol really? If you read the books, you'll see that there's like 5,000 different Houses. Just because Westeros is split up into Seven Kingdoms south of the Wall doesn't mean there's only 7 factions or families for that matter. And there are other continents besides Westeros.
The only issue with it would be capturing the complexity and creating a viable defense against dragons, or else Targaryens would steam-roll everyone. Different campaigns could take place during different time periods in the 'A Song of Ice And Fire' series, like before the Seven Kingdoms were conquered. Total War is probably the ONLY game series that could deliver an enjoyable quality experience and do the series some justice.

Not so much about the big battles. And I doubt CA can replicate these things well into a TW game as the games are mainly about massivebattles, managing your kingdom and conquering nations.
I feel Game of Thrones would fit much better in Crusader Kings. - Junior MemberPosts: 11Registered UsersBeen on a Game of Thrones binge (though sadly I just finished all four seasons ) and I would LOVE to see a GoT Total War game. I was talking to a friend yesterday about the GoT-esque game like how the IronBorns would be a raiding viking-esque faction, Daenerys' army would have an amazing high morale, and how I would sooooo love to play as Stannis with his Mounted Knights, his fleet, and use the powers of the Lord of Light to 1up his 'superior' enemies.
Unfortunately, I dont see HBO handing the rights to CA/Sega (a shame since I played the Telltale GoT and I both found it disappointing and I would rather see GoT be tackled in different genres instead). Plus, as others said, the diplomacy, politics, espionage, and more would need to be more in-depth and closer to Crusader Kings 2. And lastly, we haven't seen much large scale battles with tight and restrictive formations in GoT. Battles in the series tend to be loose and chaotic.
In fact, there seems to be a lot of 'squad'-sized groups in GoT. Like when the Wildlings were climbing over the wall, they seemed to be separated into groups of 6 or more. In the Battle of Blackwater, you hear Stannis' soldiers yell out
'First and Second squads, to the gate! To the Mudgate'
And y'know, I actually think I wouldn't mind that. It would be similar to Company of Heroes/Dawn of War and their squad sizes. It would offer more flexible control and be closer to GoT. Perhaps a GoT Total War game could have a CoH/DoW side to the game where when you're not playing those large scale Total War-esque battles, you might have smaller scale battles with squads instead.

I think that 'Kings of Thrones' is trademarked and would want a lot of money for a Total War game. I do not ever see this happening. 'Kings of Thrones' is a great series. But, they are too greedy with all there merch,books and other games.

There's some good licensed games. But off the top of my head, the recent ones that used the IP really well, or at least were just good games that happened to be a part of a license was South Park the Stick of Truth and Shadow of Mordor. The former worked well because the show creators were on board from the very start and gave the game its personality. The latter was created by a very experienced developer (Monolith's FEAR still holds up today) and was set in a time that no other LOTR games explored.
In a supposed GoT Total War game, it would more have to be dependent on a strong developer getting the mechanics and design right on the spot.
But I guess what you meant were games that tied heavily with a movie or series to the point they were released in a rushed state (Amazing Spider Man 2, Sonic Boom).
